How I Got Started

I'm a child of the 80s.  I grew up during the time when Hip Hop was becoming mainstream.  It wasn't just the music, It was a culture.  I've wanted to be a DJ since I was a kid.  Unfortunately, I didn't have the means to purchase equipment so it was just a dream.  Years later, as I thought about my life, I said "what the heck."  I made the investment, jumped in with both feet, started chasing my dream, and I've been rocking parties ever since.

My Style

I firmly believe that your DJ style starts at birth.  Your appreciation and interpretation of music is based on your entire life, everything you have done, everything you have seen.  Everything you are contributes to your style as a DJ.  Me, my upbringing was full of life and energy and that's my DJ style.  I want my music to make people recall things from their childhood, the first time you fell in love, where you were when a particular song comes on.  When you leave my party, I want you to be not only physically spent, but emotionally spent as well.

 

My Goals

My big dream is to DJ a gentlemen's club.  For a DJ, gentlemen's clubs are the hardest places to DJ because you have to keep the energy high for hours at a time and touch on many different genres.  Gentlemen's clubs are where you really earn your stripes as a DJ.  You tell me a hot DJ and I'll tell you the gentlemen's club he started in.     

 

My Influences

Growing up during the heart of the Hip Hop era.  I'm a BIG fan of DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jam Master Jay, DJ Screw, J Dilla, and DJ Green Lantern.  I follow these guys on Instagram, watch their Youtube videos, and really listen to and dissect what it is they do on the turntables.  

 

Future Projects

I'm working to do more corporate functions. That's a market segment that I haven't done enough of.

Why Hire Me

All DJs bring something unique to the table.  What I bring is professionalism, passion, and proficiency.  Also, I'm a student of the game.  I do a lot of behind the scenes research and studying prior to gigs so that I can tailor the playlist and the sound to the crowd that I'm playing for.  And most importantly, I understand that budgets drive everything.  I will do all that I can to create a solution that sounds great, but is still affordable.
